This program is designed to prepare competent entry-level medical assistants and meets the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) Standards and Guidelines. The program combines lecture, in classroom hands-on skills practice, and a mandatory 200-hour externship in local physician offices and clinics.

  • Administrative skills: appointment scheduling, billing, telephone skills, insurance, transcription, computer applications for medical offices

The Marion Technical College Medical Assisting program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) (www.caahep.org) upon the recommendation of the Medical Assisting Education Review Board (MAERB).

CAAHEP is the largest programmatic accreditor in the health sciences field. They examine specific schools or programs within an educational institution. CAAHEP is designed to evaluate and ensure that the Standards of each profession are met.

Steps To Enrollment

  • Step 1

    Complete & Submit Online Application.  Pay $20 non-refundable application fee.

  • Step 2

    Submit paperwork to Student Services at the MTC campus. Provide copies of two officially recognized proofs of residency, copies of Driver’s License, and the Supplemental Program Packet.

    SUPPLEMENTAL PACKETS VARY – Attending an Information Session may be required for acceptance into the program.

  • Step 3

    Financial Aid application – www.fafsa.gov
    Complete FAFSA application and provide a Student Aid Report (SAR). MTC school code: 031039

  • Step 4

    You will be notified by program department of acceptance. You will be notified by Financial Aid of estimated funds available.

  • Step 5

    Pay fee and/or sign enrollment document to complete enrollment process in Student Fees.
    Seat in scheduled program is confirmed after Student Fees is completed.
